Educational Pathways to Becoming a Radiology Technician
Although there are a few radiology technician positions that are offered to individuals that do not have a degree, most require applicants to possess an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and maintain certification. If an individual already has significant experience in the radiology or other medical fields, it is also possible to enroll in a certificate program, which lasts for 6 to 12 months. By far the most common option, two-year associate’s degrees in radiology technology can usually be found at accredited community colleges and private institutions. Those that are interested in pursuing high-level supervisory positions as a radiology technician usually enroll in a four-year bachelor’s degree program in radiology. Usually, completing a radiology associate’s degree is sufficient to begin a career as a radiology technician and prepare for the ARRT certification examination.Finding the Right Radiology Technician School ProgramWith nearly 1,000 accredited programs in the United States offering various pathways to becoming a radiology technician, you have many great options to choose from.
