How to become a radiology technician in Minnesota

Licensing is a must in order for anyone to become a radiology technician in Minnesota. The licenses and certificates are issued by the Minnesota Department of Health which oversees all transactions and issuing of permits in the medical field.

The main requirement for you to qualify for the license is that you have to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam. Alternatively, you may sit for the ACRRT test or rather a state equivalent test.

These exams may only be taken if you have graduated from an accredited radiology tech school.

In order to apply for the license, you will also be required to pay $100 as the application fee plus a $25 that is directed to the Minnesota Department of Health for their salaries and maintenance activities. There is also the limited x-ray operator certification process which consists of the same fees but for limited scope examinations. Renewal is done after every 2 years.
